Our current need is for your decent working unwanted computer systems;
- Systems with a speed of 700+ Mhz are much better than older slower ones as some of the training and education programs need both sound and graphics to work well.
- Any Windows licences that you have from Window 2000 onwards are also needed. We can run Windows 2000 (under licence from the Microsoft Education FreshStart initiative) on machines in schools. The machines will loaded with free software including OpenOffice, TuxType, PhotoFiltre and a selection of free educational maths and English based programs for the children.
- Money is always needed of course! This is an empowerment project so the folks who receive kit are expected to use their money and facilities to install and use the computers we send. Look at the lovely computer suite in Ashaiman that they built, furnished and installed themselves. It costs about £3,000 to send a 20ft container to Ghana including the dockside demurrage fees. Please use the GiftAid logo at the top of this page to donate money.
We would ask you to consider donating any surplus working IT kit that you have, either individual items or complete systems, to give to our children in Ghana & India. Please e-mail us with details of the kit that you wish to donate and where you are too!
We are especially in need of WINDOWS 2000 (or later) licences from scrapped computers as the Microsoft Freshstart initiative only includeds schools and not independent places such as youth clubs.
